Opposition leaders, including BJP's Sajal Ghosh and CPI(M) central committee member Sujan Chakraborty, criticized Basu's remarks, accusing him of attempting to curry favor with the chief minister.

Dey further shared the same complaint with Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose, and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Earlier in the day, he had also submitted a similar complaint to the bar association.

Banerjee informed reporters that she submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister, emphasizing the constitutional mandate for the release of these funds. In response, Prime Minister Modi conveyed that joint meetings between officers from the Centre and West Bengal would be organized to address the matter.

Kharge, however, urged the leaders to prioritize amplifying their seats in the 2024 General Elections and consolidating the INDIA bloc's power before dwelling on individual positions.

She has previously accused the Union government of deliberately depriving West Bengal of central dues. The meeting with PM Modi is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday in the Parliament premises.

"He had connections with Bihar and Jharkhand, but not with West Bengal. So unnecessarily the name of our state is being dragged into the matter. Even the Union Home Ministry acknowledged lapses in the security system. All we seek is a thorough investigation by an independent agency," she stated in her initial remarks regarding Jha's reported connections to Bengal.

Trinamool leaders counter, alleging the BJP's attempt to divert focus and shield its own MPs involved in issuing passes for the security lapse.

She highlighted her stay in Delhi until December 20 and revealed her written request for a meeting with the Prime Minister during this period.

Banerjee emphasized the haste in Moitra's expulsion, speculating it was orchestrated to prevent her participation in a session preceding the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. She expressed disappointment in the Prime Minister's lack of consideration on the matter, hoping for Moitra's inclusion in the remaining session of Parliament.

The FIRs, filed at Maidan and Hare Street police stations, cite the act as a direct insult to the Chief Minister, who serves as the state's executive head, according to Bhattacharya's complaint.
