The treasury benches brought the motion on the 11th day of the ongoing monsoon session. Both the chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Suvendu Adhikari participated effectively in the debate.

Talking to the PTI in an interview in Delhi, during his stay here for the Governors' Conference, Bose said the governor should not act as a "rubber stamp" while carrying out his constitutional functions meant to uphold the Constitution and save federalism.

The government said she had run out of time for speaking. She termed the act disrespectful and announced that she would not attend any further meetings. She said that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was given 20 minutes while other chief ministers of Assam, Goa, and Chhattisgarh spoke for 10 to 12 minutes, whereas she was cut off after five minutes of speaking.

“Have you ever heard such a thing that money was offered instead of ministries? They are cowards, greedy and shameless. They succumbed to the money. They sacrificed their own identities,” the Chief Minister said while addressing the Martyrs' Day rally in Kolkata.

Sources within the Trinamool Congress stated that Banerjee will be in Delhi possibly from July 25 to July 28. A state Cabinet minister, who wished anonymity, disclosed that Chief Minister will attend the meeting of the Niti Aayog, to which all Chief Ministers of states have been invited, besides holding discussions with the Trinamool members in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha to chalk out a party strategy in the forthcoming sessions.

"I will meet Uddhav Thackeray, whom I have not met for quite some time, there tomorrow. I will have political discussions with him. I will also go to the residence of Sharad Pawar and meet him. I heard that Akhilesh Yadav will be there. I will also meet him. I will be coming back to Kolkata on Saturday," she told reporters before departing for Mumbai.

Poonawalla shared on his social media platform a video of a group thrashing an individual; he captioned it, "Another distressing video from Bengal reminiscent of the Taliban, following the Chopra incident."

"A shocking video has emerged from West Bengal, reminiscent of the savagery seen only in totalitarian regimes," the union minister posted on X. "To make matters worse, Trinamool Congress cadre and MLAs are justifying this heinous act. Whether it's Sandeshkhali, Uttar Dinajpur, or numerous other places, Didi's West Bengal is UNSAFE for women," he added.

In the letter, Banerjee referenced Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's recent visit and her discussions with PM Modi. “It seems that water-sharing issues relating to Ganges and Teesta Rivers were discussed during the meeting. Such unilateral deliberations and discussions without consultations or opinions of the state government are neither acceptable nor desirable,” the letter read.

“Today the INDIA bloc has not made any claim (to form the government). But that does not mean that it will not stake claim in the future. Right now, we have taken a wait-and-watch stand. The country needs change.
