Mamata Alleges Unwarranted Association of Bengal with Parliament Security Breach

"He had connections with Bihar and Jharkhand, but not with West Bengal. So unnecessarily the name of our state is being dragged into the matter. Even the Union Home Ministry acknowledged lapses in the security system. All we seek is a thorough investigation by an independent agency," she stated in her initial remarks regarding Jha's reported connections to Bengal.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asserted on Sunday that West Bengal is intentionally being associated with the recent security breach at the Parliament House to divert attention from serious security lapses there. Prior to her departure for New Delhi, she addressed reporters and pointed out that Lalit Jha, the main accused, had no significant ties to West Bengal.

The Chief Minister also highlighted that opposition MPs who raised concerns about this security lapse were suspended. In New Delhi, Banerjee is scheduled to participate in a meeting of the opposition INDIA bloc and is set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 20. There are strong indications that Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee might accompany her to the meeting.
