"Run Rahul run": BJP mocks Congress leader fielded from Rae Bareli in the Lok sabha elections

In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's advice to Gandhi not to run out of fear, Gautam playfully characterized Gandhi as a young individual who should be motivated. However, he pointed out that despite encouragement, the people have rejected him.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took a jab at Rahul Gandhi, a prominent Congress leader, on Friday, suggesting that his decision to contest the ongoing Lok Sabha elections from both Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh and Wayanad in Kerala stems from a foreseen defeat in the latter. Dushyant Kumar Gautam, the national general secretary of BJP, expressed this view during a press conference at the party headquarters. When questioned about Gandhi's multiple candidacies, Gautam humorously remarked, "Bhag Rahul bhag, Rahul bhag, Rahul bhag (run Rahul run) -- this is what will go on now."

Accusing Gandhi of betraying the voters of Wayanad by extending his candidacy to Rae Bareli, Gautam claimed that Gandhi's presence in Rae Bareli is a consequence of his perceived decline in popularity in Wayanad. He alleged, "He has come to Rae Bareli (to contest the polls) instead of Amethi because he is losing from Wayanad."

Rahul Gandhi officially filed his nomination papers from Rae Bareli on Friday, a constituency that has been represented in the Lok Sabha by his mother, Sonia Gandhi, for the past two decades.
