“I have an apprehension that the polling for the Lok Sabha might be advanced to either December this year or January next year. Everything is possible for the BJP. Remember, if BJP retains power, the entire country will be heading for total autocracy," the Chief Minister said while addressing a gathering on the occasion of the foundation  day of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad, the students’ wing of the party.

The Chief Minister’s remarks came when the Governor announced to open an anti-corruption cell within the Governor’s House to get direct information from the public on the issue of corruption.

The question remains on whether she will completely rule out any negotiation with the country's oldest national party for the Lok Sabha polls as she had been doing in the last couple of months or send a message of friendship or totally remain silent and refrain from taking Congress' name in her speech.

Though media persons were waiting outside the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport hoping to get her reaction, she refused to talk to the press and went straight into the airport. She was accompanied by her nephew and Trinamool Congress’ national General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee.

In a video message shot at an undisclosed location - a copy of which is available with IANS, he also called upon the people of the community to boycott Trinamool in the forthcoming panchayat polls.

While addressing a gathering at the border district, Mamata Banerjee not only accused the BSF of ‘gunning down’ villagers but also warned that personnel of the border guarding force would try to intimidate the border population to try and keep them from voting for her party in the rural polls.

“I am not saying that everyone in BSF is bad. But I request you to operate independently and impartially. Modi is there today. He might not be there tomorrow. But you will be there to protect the country. So it is unfair to resort to torture on people. Rather you work together with people,” Mamata said while addressing a campaign rally at Jalpaiguri for the July 8 panchayat polls in the state.

“I love Cooch Behar so much. Your children are killed here in firing at the borders. I have told the police to keep watch and take action after registering FRs in case of any such firing at the bordering villages. The state government will take action. No one has the right to shoot people to death,” she said while addressing a campaign rally for Cooch Behar for the forthcoming panchayat polls. 

While leaving the state guest house, Mamata Banerjee folded hands in front of the people and media persons and prayed to God "for all things to go in the right direction". Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Maan, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge reached Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's residence at 1 Anne Marg in the state capital.

"Every attempt is being made to suppress the actual reasons behind the deadly accident. To divert attention, the CBI is being sent everywhere. Today I heard the CBI has entered the municipalities in West Bengal. Will the CBI now enter people's private washrooms," Mamata Banerjee questioned.
