West Bengal to use Netaji tableau in state Republic Day parade

The state's programme will be a curtailed one of 30 minutes duration because of the Covid-19 pandemic situation. According to senior officials of the state home department, Netaji is going to be the central theme in the state's Republic Day function. Tableaux of Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Airforce and Kolkata Police will also be showcased at the Red Road function, which will be graced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Politics of tableau heated up after the Centre rejected the proposals of Kerala, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu tableaux in the Republic Day parade. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had on Sunday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his intervention after the Centre rejected her state's Republic Day tableaux on Subhas Chandra Bose. In his letter to both the leaders, Rajnath Singh stated that of the 29 proposals from states and union territories, 12 were accepted.

Speaking to the media persons at the airport before leaving for Assam on a two-day tour, the Chief Minister said: "All the winning candidates will be present at Maharashtra Bhawan on December 23. On that day, the KMC mayor and the board will be formed." Though the party is yet to finalise any name, there are strong indications that the Chief Minister wants to rest on Firhad Hakim again.
West Bengal CM Mamata to attend event in Kathmandu pending Centre's clearance

CM Mamata Banerjee recently received an invitation to address a gathering in Kathmandu on December 11. Sources in the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) confirmed that Banerjee is interested to go to Kathmandu and has informed the organisers of the event, but she needs to get clearance from the Central government. The state government is writing to the Centre to allow her to go to Kathmandu.

Not only Sangma but in Delhi Kirti Azad and Ashok Tanwar joined the party though Tanwar had left the TMC in 2019. Prior to this the TMC brought in Laliteshpati Tripathi from the Congress in Uttar pradesh, Luizinho Faleiro in Goa and Sushmita Dev in Assam. Dev and Faleiro have been sent to the Rajya Sabha (Upper House of Parliament). Mamata met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on her visit this week but when asked about a meeting with Sonia Gandhi she said it is not necessary to meet Sonia Gandhi each time.
