Mamata Banerjee Meets PM Modi, Appeals for Release of Pending State Funds

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, leading a 10-member delegation, including Trinamool Congress MPs. During the meeting, Banerjee urged the Prime Minister to release pending state funds, amounting to Rs 1.16 lakh crore, that are owed to West Bengal by the Centre.

Regarding Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee's mimicry of Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, Mamata Banerjee refrained from commenting, stating that she wouldn't interfere in parliamentary party issues. She mentioned that her parliamentary party is competent to respond to such matters.

Responding to a query about proposing Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge as the Prime Ministerial candidate for the INDIA bloc, Mamata Banerjee confirmed that she had indeed proposed Kharge's name. She noted that Arvind Kejriwal supported her proposal, and the decision was made as a response to the widespread inquiry about the Prime Ministerial candidate. Banerjee stated that they supported Kharge's name as they had no objections, and Kejriwal endorsed the proposal.
