Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi started the day of his swearing-in ceremony by visiting Rajghat. Rajghat houses the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. This visit may be seen as the beginning of Modi's third term as the prime minister of the country.
In the afternoon, President Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath to Modi and his Council of Ministers at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Among the allies with whom this coalition government is likely to be constituted are the TDP, JD(U), and Shiv Sena.
After Rajghat, Modi paid his tributes to the late BJP stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former prime minister. He visited his memorial, 'Sadaiv Atal'. Vajpayee was the first prime minister from the BJP and steered the party to the national political scenario along with senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani.
The presence of a large number of supporters marked the prime minister-designate's visit to these places of homage. Especially, the prime minister-designate visited these places at the head of the crowds. It is in this background that another event is to be seen. The prime minister-designate also visited the National War Memorial to pay his respects to the valor and sacrifice of the soldiers who have served the nation.
