Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu will be sworn in as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in Vijayawada on June 12, the party said on Friday.
The ceremony will take place at 11.27 a.m. — a time deemed auspicious by Mr. Naidu's advisors.
This event will take place near the Kesarapalli IT Park, close to the Gannavaram Airport in Vijayawada. Governor S. Abdul Nazeer will officiate the oath of office and secrecy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with his Cabinet members, various state chief ministers, and leaders from the BJP and other NDA partners, are expected to attend the ceremony.
The venue — closer to the airport — is selected to reduce the travel time and inconvenience to the Prime Minister and other VIP guests. It is not yet clear if any ministers will be sworn in along with Mr. Naidu. At 74, this will be Mr. Naidu's fourth term in office. He was Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh from 1995 to 2004 and the first Chief Minister of reconstituted Andhra Pradesh from 2014 to 2019 after the bifurcation of the State.
The TDP-Jana Sena-BJP combine that will form the government in the State posted a landslide victory by winning 164 of the 175 seats in the Assembly and also 21 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats, while the TDP had secured 135 Assembly and 16 Lok Sabha seats of its own.
