Delhi's Covid tally drops to 678, 2 fresh deaths

Meanwhile, the Covid positivity rate has declined to 3.98 per cent, while the number of active cases stands at 3,410, of which 2,534 are being treated in home isolation. With 969 patients recovering in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries has gone to 19,06,689. With new Covid cases, the total caseload of the city has jumped to 19,36,365 while the death toll has reached at 26,266.

With 1,221 patients recovering in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries has gone to 18,91,536. The number of patients being treated in home isolation has risen at 4,095. With new Covid cases, the total caseload of the city has jumped to 19,23,149 while the death toll has reached at 26,238.

In case, the patient removed the machine or there was a power failure and it needed power back-up which was not there in the jail, he argued saying Jain had suffered severe pneumonia during Covid and had just managed to survive. Even at the time of remand, on request made in that regard, directions were given to make arrangements for the said condition of the accused to provide a CPAP machine, the counsel pointed out.

However, no Covid related death has been reported in the city. Meanwhile, the Covid positivity rate has jumped to 4.11 per cent in the city. The number of active cases has also risen to 2,247 in the capital city. With 556 patients recovering in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries has gone to 18,83,598. The number of patients being treated in home isolation stands at 1,360.

Over 90 vehicles gutted in Delhi parking fire

The official informed that they received a call about the fire incident around 5.00 a.m. at the Main Tikona Park, Jamia Nagar in South-East Delhi after which as many as 11 fire tenders were immediately pressed into service. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. "The fire has damaged in 10 cars, 1 motorcycle, 2 scooties, 30 new e-rickshaw, 50 old e-rickshaw in a metro parking," Delhi Fire Service chief Atul Garg said.

The incident triggered panic in the area which already had seen a communal tension during Ram Navmi. According to the sources, two groups had an altercation which snowballed into big brawl. Soon both the sides started pelting stones at each other. CCTV footage of the incident has been accessed by the IANS where people can be seen running and pelting stones at each other.

Bishnoi is in the custody of the Cell, which is expiring Sunday and the police might seek an extension of the remand. The Special Cell had recently taken gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, an aide of Brar, into custody to interrogate him in the Moosewala's killing case. The sources said that Bishnoi too has taken Brar's name as the brain behind the murder of Moosewala. Bishnoi told interrogators that Moosewala was involved in conspiracy against their gang and hence they wanted to kill him.
