Businessman Vijay Nair sent to 5 days' CBI custody

He was arrested on Tuesday night by the CBI. Vijay Nair was the first person to be arrested in the excise scam. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) told the court that his custodial interrogation was necessary. Senior lawyer Rebecca John, who was appearing for Nair, opposed the CBI move saying her client has joined the investigation and was cooperating.
Estimated employment increases from 3.14 cr in Q3 to 3.18 cr in Q4

While releasing the Quarterly Report, Union Labour & Employment Minister Bhupender Yadav said that employment is showing an increasing trend in the selected sectors of the economy. The estimated employment has increased from 3.14 crore of the third quarter (September-December, 2021) to 3.18 crore of fourth quarter (January-March, 2022).
Days after old policy implemented, Delhi faces premium liquor brand crisis

Private liquor shops were shut and the Delhi government vends were opened from September 1 as the city returned to the old liquor policy. However, the city is experiencing massive shortage of both imported and Indian premium brands of alcohol. "We are unable to provide the liquor of some specific premium brands to the customers as we are not getting it from the back and resultantly, lot of customers go empty handed," said an outlet manager of East Delhi to IANS.

The posh areas of the city such as South Extension, Safdarjung Enclave, Punjabi Bagh, Greater Kailash, CR Park, Kamla Nagar, Model Town, and some parts of East Delhi are facing massive shortage of liquor as most outlets are shut there.
Liquor traders unwilling to place bulk orders, leading to shortage in Delhi

The liquor traders are afraid that if they place orders in bulk, they will be under pressure to clear the inventory anyhow by the end of this month after their licence expires on August 31. The capital city is not experiencing the liquor crisis for just premium brands, even the non-premium brands are not available at many outlets. Meanwhile, a total of six zonal licensees have opted out of the extension and surrendered their licences even as private shops reopened on Tuesday after LG V.K. Saxena's approval for one month extension. It has resulted in the closure of 126 stores out of the total 468 that were presently operating in the city.
Chinese digital loan sharks spreading wings in India

Recently, a case of so called 'Chinese loan app' racket came to light in Delhi's Dwarka area. The racket was being run by some Chinese handlers in the garb of a local consulting BPO firm, Fly High Global Services and Technology. The modus operandi started with the simple advertisement for 'On Stream' online loan app in social media to attract customers who wished to avail hassle-free loans in minutes.
