With tensions once again renewed between Elon Musk and Donald Trump over the contentious "Big, Beautiful Bill," Philip Low, former close friend of the Tesla CEO, entered the fray, asserting, "Elon has been humiliated," and professing that Musk would do anything short of reversing the earth's rotation to damage the U.S. President politically.
Low, an esteemed neuroscientist with many awards to his credit, shared his opinion regarding the renewed public conflict between the erstwhile allies. "I've had my share of blowouts with Elon throughout the years. Knowing Elon the way I know him, I do believe he's going to do everything to harm the President," he opined.
Politico says that Musk and Low have been friends since 2011, when they initially met at an event in Paris. They became close through regular meetups in Los Angeles, where Musk was located at the time. The two were accustomed to attending each other's parties and social functions regularly.
Recalling Musk's personality, Low drew a dramatic portrait, depicting him as a man consumed by a great need for control and revenge. He characterized the billionaire as "obsessive," driven by an insatiable appetite for power, and always striving for the advantage. Even after 14 years of acquaintance, Low doubts Musk's personal development, asserting that he doesn't think Musk ever grew up — and that he does not anticipate he will.
The newest installment in the Trump-Musk drama started last month, when the two got into a combative fight over the former President's ambitious domestic policy and tax code overhaul bill. Musk, who was one of Trump's most vocal supporters, condemned the legislation — which Trump has dubbed the "Big, Beautiful Bill" — as a "disgusting abomination," a remark that rocked political circles.
Their spat has since gone beyond, with both sides exchanging repeated blows through X, the social media platform Musk controls. The viciousness of their exchanges increases daily, and Musk has now threatened to start his own political party — referred to as "The America Party" — if Congress passes Trump's bill.
Meanwhile, Trump responded to Musk’s criticism with characteristic bluntness, even hinting at drastic measures. When asked by reporters at the White House if he would consider deporting Musk following the billionaire’s fierce condemnation of his bill, Trump replied, “I don’t know. We’ll have to take a look.”
