Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president J.P. Nadda are scheduled to visit the state in May for meetings with party workers. The BJP has set a target to win 12 of the 14 Lok Sabha seats. According to sources, the party however may face a stiff challenge in four constituencies -- Dhubri, Kaliabor, Barpeta, and Nagaon.

Speaking on the occasion, Modi pointed out, "The first AIIMS was built in Delhi during the 1950s. People from all corners went to AIIMS Delhi for treatment, but no government understood the need of setting up AIIMS campuses all over the country." On Sunday, a section of journalists in Assam received calls from different mobile numbers, and on connecting, a message purportedly in Pannu's voice issued threats to Sarma. Sarma, on Friday, also threatened to file a defamation case against the Delhi Chief Minister. The Chief Minister asserted that there is no pending case against him, neither before any court in the country nor in any agency. He asked, "Which case is there against me? I challenge Arvind Kejriwal to show a single case filed against me."

The CEC added, "In connection with the ongoing delimitation exercise, we held discussions with political parties and other organisations in the last two days. We also met around 60 civil groups and organisations. In the delimitation exercise, we will do our best to take into account all of the political parties' and organisations' suggestions.

He said that this is happening after signing of the Namsai Declaration. Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, while interacting with mediapersons in the national capital, said, "It is an exercise being carried out by the police forces of Assam and Punjab. Once when there was a crisis in Assam, we had sent a few arrested persons to Bhagalpur in Bihar. So I think it is absolutely normal, and I should not comment anything more on this."

Interacting with the mediapersons here, Sarma said: "Has he not read the CRPC or the Indian Constitution which outline the fundamental duties of citizens? When a person has the knowledge of a crime that has taken place, it is his/her job to alert the police... otherwise, you will also become the culprit."

Himanta Biswa, who is in Karnataka to participate in the Vijay Sankalp Rath Yatra in Koppal, visited the famous local Gavi Siddeshwar Mutt and sought blessings of Gavisiddeshwar seer.
