125-ft tall statue of Lachit Barphukan to be installed in Assam

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday took stock of the physical progress of the statue of Borphukan. He held a meeting with the engineers of the construction agency and asked them to complete the construction by the end of 2024. Since the entire complex area has been demarcated, Sarma asked the Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat Pulak Mahanta to plant saplings around the boundary walls. 
Assam: Against delimitation but will not have alliance with Congress, says AAP

AAP Assam in-charge Rajesh Sharma told IANS: “We are against the delimitation. But we will not join any alliance with the Congress. Our party believes that forging an alliance with either Congress or BJP is the same. As of now, we will be only part of forums to oppose the draft delimitation proposal.”

Srinivas B.V. asked to appear before Assam police on Angkita Dutta's complaint

The copy of the letter of Assam police referring the cases registered against Srinivas on Dutta's complaint mentioned, "It is revealed that there are reasonable grounds to question you (Srinivas B.V.) to ascertain facts and circumstances from you, in relation to the present investigation. Hence you are directed to appear at 11:00 AM on 02/05/2023 (Tuesday) at Dispur police station."

A case has been registered against Srinivas B.V. in Dispur police station under Sections 509, 294, 341, 352, 354, 354A, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with Section 67 of the Information Technology Act. According to sources, a four-member team of Assam Police has been sent to Karnataka to apprehend Srinivas.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Arunachal Pradesh counterpart Pema Khandu signed the agreement in presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. After signing the deal, Shah said that they all have witnessed a historic moment in the northeast to resolve the border dispute between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, pending for decades.
