PM Modi once again tops 'Global Leader Approval' ratings among 13 world leaders, leaving behind likes of Joe Biden, Boris Johnson

PM Modi’s approval rating currently stands at 77 percent. Disapproval rating is 17 percent with 6 percent having no opinion. He is followed by Mexico’s Andrés Manuel López Obrador at the second position. Obrador has an approval rating of 63 percent and disapproval rating of 29 percent. Italy’s Draghi comes at third position with 54 percent approval ratings. Germany’s new chancellor Olaf Scholz comes at fourth with 45 percent approval ratings.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again topped the “Global Leader Approval” list based on data collected from 9-15 March 2022. PM Modi’s approval ratings stand at 77 percent, last updated on 17th March.

These ratings are based “on a seven-day moving average of adult residents in each country,” the methodology read. The sample sizes for each country varies.

Italy’s Draghi comes at third position with 54 percent approval ratings. Germany’s new chancellor Olaf Scholz comes at fourth with 45 percent approval ratings.

Japan’s Kishida comes in fifth with 42 percent. Canada’s Justin Trudeau comes sixth with 42 percent approval rating. America’s Biden, Australian PM Scott Morrison and France’s Macron share the seventh spot with 41 percent approval ratings. President Macron and PM Morrison are standing for re-election this year. At the bottom of the list is UK PM Boris Johnson at 33 percent approval.

The list was released by “Morning Consultant political intelligence.” It tracks the approval ratings of government leaders and country trajectories in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States. These ratings are updated weekly on the basis of latest collected data which offers insight into political dynamics in the 13 countries.

As per the trajectory, PM Modi’s approval rating was at its worst in May 2021 with 53 percent approving his government. His approval rating was at an all-time high on May 2-3 with 84% approval.  

Recently, PM Modi’s party BJP won critical state assembly in four states including the crucial state of Uttar Pradesh, signalling an approval of the ruling dispensation both at the central and state level.
