Indian online higher education market to reach $5 bn by 2025
Online higher education is emerging as the fastest growing sub-segment of the edtech sector. The user base for online higher education grew by 75 per cent in 2021, despite a three times growth in the average ticket size compared to the K12 segment. In fact, the market size for online higher education in India is now comparable to the largest edtech segments (K6-12 including test preparation), the report showed.
Don't seek admission in China, Indian students warned
On a day when Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited India, the UGC and AICTE warned Indian students and their parents not to seek admission in professional courses in China. The University Grant Commission (UGC) warning, a first of sorts in connection with Chinese educational institutions, invoked the extant rules that both UGC and AICTE "do not recognise such degree courses conducted only in online mode without prior approval".
Pariksha Pe Charcha: Modi to interact with students on April 1
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's interaction programme "Pariksha Pe Charcha" with a cross-section of students and teachers from India and abroad to beat the exam stress will be held on April 1. An online creative writing competition was conducted earlier to select the participants, and around 15.7 lakh participants registered for the creative writing competition, as per an official statement.
UP Board examinations begin today for 52L students
Around 52 lakh students are taking the Class 10 and Class 12 UP Board examination from Thursday. Of these, 27.8 lakh students will appear for Class 10 and 24.1 lakh for Class 12. The exams will be held at 8,373 centres across the state. The UP Secondary Education Board (UPSEB) has identified 254 centres as 'highly-sensitive' and 861 centres as 'sensitive' in view of vulnerability for cheating.
No provision for re-examination if candidate fails to appear, UPSC to SC
It said it conducts the civil services examination strictly in accordance with the rules of examination framed annually by the government. It clarified that any decision regarding age relaxation and compensatory/extra attempt is a policy matter falling under the domain of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
First-ever common entrance test for all Central universities to be held in first week of July: UGC
“The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission in Undergraduate programs from the academic session 2022-2023 in all UGC funded Central Universities will be conducted in 13 languages namely Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Punjabi, Odia and English by the National Testing Agency (NTA),” a public notice by UGC said.
Students who returned from Ukraine to get admission in Karnataka colleges
Karnataka Health Minister K. Sudhakar on Monday said arrangements would be made for the students who returned from war-struck Ukraine to continue their studies in the state's medical colleges. The minister made this announcement during a press conference at Vidhana Soudha after meeting a delegation of students who returned from Ukraine.
CBSE starts sending Class 12 part 1 results to schools
The students can contact their respective schools to get the results, an official said. Earlier, on last Saturday, the CBSE had released the results of the first term of Class 10 students in a similar way. The first term examination of class X and XII students were conducted in December last year. The results of both classes have been sent directly to the schools via offline mode. Students can also get it through the offline mode.
After Gujarat, Karnataka all set to introduce Bhagavad Gita in school syllabus
According to sources, the education department, though giving diplomatic statements in this regard, is preparing to teach the Bhagavad Gita, the holy Hindu scripture to students under the moral science subject. However, Congress has maintained that the present syllabus has been prepared by resourceful persons and there is no need to include anything now.
If exam paper leaks, Maharashtra to 'derecognise' school
After the SSC Marathi exam paper allegedly leaked earlier this week, the state government clamped down and derecognised the Laxmibai Secondary and Higher Secondary School, Nilajgaon, where there were allegations of mass-copying. Announcing the strong decisions in the Maharashtra Legislature, Prof. Gaikwad said that henceforth, all students must reach their examination venues at least one hour before the scheduled paper.
