UP police books RGV over controversial tweet on Draupadi Murmu

The FIR has been lodged at Hazratganj police station in Lucknow on the complaint of a social worker, Manoj Singh. Earlier, a case was registered against Varma in Telangana in connection with the controversial tweet. In his complaint, Singh said, "...Varma had tweeted from his official twitter handle that 'If Draupadi is the President who are the Pandavas? And more importantly, who are the Kauravas?'
CBI replaces counsel, IO in Bengal's post poll violence case

It is learnt that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has replaced its counsel Phiroze Edulji with advocate K Mandal. It has also replaced its investigation officer by giving charge to a comparatively senior officer. Ajay Kumar, an officer in the rank of deputy superintendent has been replaced by S. Gayen, who is in the rank of additional superintendent.
Monsoon misses date with Delhi, IMD to declare date on Tuesday

Government orders probe into Tata Nexon EV fire incident

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), which was earlier tasked with investigating electric two-wheeler fire incidents by the Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry, would lead the probe into Nexon EV fire too. The DRDO probe had found serious defects in the batteries. These defects occurred because the electric two-wheeler manufacturers like Okinawa Autotech, Pure EV, Jitendra Electric Vehicles, Ola Electric and Boom Motors may have used "lower-grade materials to cut costs".
2 terrorists killed in gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama

Flood situation worsens in Assam, toll rises to 81

Even as the national and state agencies, including the National Disaster Response Force, are working round-the-clock in the relief and rescue operations, the Assam government has asked the Army to be on stand-by mode to reach out to the affected people. According to the officials of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the fresh deaths were reported from eight districts while seven persons are missing in five districts.
Varanasi judge hearing Gyanvapi case transferred

Varanasi civil judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar among the 121 civil judges transferred by the Allahabad High Court on Monday evening. The transferred judges are required to take charge of office by July 4. Sources termed the transfer of Diwakar as 'routine' and said that there was no link to the sensitive Gyanvapi case that he was hearing.
Delhi reports drop in Covid cases, but 6 deaths now

Meanwhile, the Covid positivity rate has jumped to 10.09 per cent, while the number of active cases has slightly declined to 5,375. With 1,221 patients recovering in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries has gone to 18,91,536. The number of patients being treated in home isolation has risen at 4,095. With new Covid cases, the total caseload of the city has jumped to 19,23,149 while the death toll has reached at 26,238.
