72 trains cancelled following violence at Secunderabad station
The South Central Railway (SCR) also partially cancelled 12 trains and diverted three others. All trains originating from Secunderabad or passing through the station were cancelled following violent protest by hundreds of youth against the Central government's new army recruitment policy "Agnipath". A SCR official said train services were suspended to ensure safety of the travelling public.
'Recruitment to begin soon', says Defence Minister amid Agnipath protests
Calling the scheme a 'golden opportunity' to join the nation's defence system and to serve the country, Singh thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allowing age waiver for the first batch to be recruited through the scheme. However, the Defence Minister's comment comes amid the protests against the Agnipath scheme which started in Bihar and has spread to several states. The protests against Agnipath continued for the third day in seven states, including the national capital.

Age limit for Agnipath scheme raised from 21 to 23 for 2022
"Consequent to the commencement of the AGNIPATH scheme, the entry age for all new recruits in the Armed Forces has been fixed as 17 and a half - 21 years of age. Cognizant of the fact that it has not been possible to undertake the recruitment during the last two years, the Government has decided that a one-time waiver shall be granted for the proposed recruitment cycle for 2022," the government said in a statement.
