WHO Warns of Grave Peril for Gaza's Population

Expressing grave concerns, the WHO highlighted the dire situation in Gaza, where only 15 out of 36 hospitals are minimally operational amidst the ongoing crisis.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Chief of the World Health Organization (WHO), has raised an urgent alarm regarding the severe hunger and desperation gripping the war-torn Palestinian territory, as reported across various media outlets.

Expressing grave concerns, the WHO highlighted the dire situation in Gaza, where only 15 out of 36 hospitals are minimally operational amidst the ongoing crisis. "We delivered supplies to two hospitals on Tuesday," the WHO confirmed, underscoring the critical scarcity of functioning medical facilities.

Appealing to the global community for immediate action, the WHO Chief emphasized the urgency of addressing the perilous conditions faced by Gaza's population. Reports from WHO staff revealed distressing scenes of hungry individuals halting convoys in search of sustenance, exacerbating the challenges in delivering vital medicines, medical resources, and fuel to hospitals.

"The desperation of people seeking aid is impeding our ability to provide essential supplies to hospitals," the WHO stated, emphasizing the pressing need for increased food availability across Gaza to ensure the safety of their personnel and the continuity of vital operations.

Despite last week's United Nations Security Council resolution advocating for the "safe and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid on a significant scale," it fell short of demanding an immediate cessation of hostilities.
