Highlighting the need to sever the cycle of violence and rectify the longstanding injustice faced by multiple generations of Palestinians, Lavrov insisted, "This is the sole path towards achieving stability in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone and the broader Middle Eastern region."

The situation escalated when Israel initiated a ground offensive in Gaza on October 27, prompted by a surprise attack from Hamas on October 7, resulting in 1200 Israeli casualties and over 200 individuals being taken hostage.
