Pakistan and China reiterated on Sunday that they remain solidly committed to maintaining regional stability and peace, advancing mutual understanding and respect, and standing united against unilateral acts and hegemonism.
That commitment came through a phone conversation between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Radio Pakistan has reported.
During sharing with Wang, Dar, the Deputy Prime Minister, also apprised Wang of the regional scenario following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, early this week that left 26 people dead.
Terming China's unwavering and unshakeable support invaluable, Dar reiterated Pakistan's firm commitment to promoting the Pakistan-China relationship and promoting the mutual interest in an All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
The two ministers pledged to ensure regular contact and coordination at all levels with the aim of pursuing their common goals of promoting peace, consolidating security, and cultivating sustainable development in the region and beyond.
Additionally, Ishaq Dar also spoke with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and briefed him on the current situation of the region. Dar once again emphasized Pakistan's strong resolve to protect its national interests while keeping working continuously for regional peace and stability.
David Lammy underlined the need to ease tensions through peaceful measures and diplomacy.
Dar, in return, reiterated Pakistan's intentions to be a part of any just and transparent investigation to uncover the truth behind the incidents.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, meanwhile, addressing foreign media officials in Islamabad, said that Pakistan was capable of retaliating effectively against any Indian act of aggression.
Pakistan is prepared and India should not mix our words with our weakness," Tarar maintained. He emphasized that the fact that Pakistan volunteered to become a part of an independent inquiry into the assault was evidence that "our hands are clean."
Tarar also reasserted Pakistan's unyielding stance on its war against terrorism, assuring that the campaign will continue until militancy is completely eradicated.
Gunmen launched fatal attacks in the tourist town of Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday, killing 26 individuals, most of whom were tourists — the worst such attack in the nation since the 2019 Pulwama bombing.
The attack was claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a front outfit of the outlawed Pakistan-based outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
