Nepal Sees Anti-Pakistan Protests After Horrific Pahalgam Terror Attack

Some political lawmakers and civil society groups, such as the leaders of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, joined the protest against the violent terrorist attack by four terrorists, two of whom were stated to be Pakistani nationals.

Massive demonstrations took place across Nepal on Saturday, including outside the Pakistani Embassy in the capital, Kathmandu, as people protested against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in India following this week's gruesome Pahalgam attack that claimed the lives of 26 Indian civilians, including Nepali citizen Sudeep Neupane.

Some political lawmakers and civil society groups, such as the leaders of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, joined the protest against the violent terrorist attack by four terrorists, two of whom were stated to be Pakistani nationals.

The protesters were seen holding placards demanding "Justice for Sudeep Neupane," chanting anti-Pakistani slogans, and hurling shoes and slippers at posters of Pakistani Army General Asim Munir in protest.

In the meantime, India's Embassy in Kathmandu also organized a condolence meeting on Saturday to offer tributes to the victims of the terror attack.

The sorrowful ceremony was attended by distinguished Nepali leaders such as Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, parliamentarians like Shekhar Koirala, NP Saud, Rajendra Bajgain, Mahanth Thakur, Ram Prakash Chaudhary, Sarbendra Nath Shukla, Chhabilal Bishwakarma, Ram Hari Khatiwada, and Shisir Khanal, and Bishnu Rimal, Prime Minister of Nepal's Chief Advisor.

Few more Indian well-wishers living in Nepal along with members from the Indian community attended the ritual to offer tribute to the late man.

Foreign Minister Deuba had condemned the terrorist attack in strongest terms and reiterated the common commitment of India and Nepal to combat and eliminate the scourge of terrorism. Standing shoulder to shoulder with India and the people of India, Deputy PM & Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel in his message condemned the cowardly terrorist attack on Pahalgam and reiterated Nepal's strong commitment against terrorism," the Embassy of India in Kathmandu shared on X.

Foreign Minister Deuba also expressed gratitude to the Indian government for making it possible to repatriate Sudeep Neupane's mortal remains at an early date. Expressing her deep condolences, she assured Nepal being a good neighbor and good friend always remains by the side of India in the war against terror.

Earlier, Nepalese Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli had spoken to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday and condemned the dastardly terror attack in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir strongly.

During a telephonic conversation, Oli termed the attack as "heinous" and spoke at length on the issue with PM Modi.

Even Prime Minister Modi himself offered condolences for the tragic death of the young Nepali national and renewed India's vow to see to it that those responsible for the cunning attack face justice.
