In a gesture of solidarity, former US President Donald Trump personally called up Prime Minister Narendra Modi one day after the attack, vehemently denouncing the terror attack.

"President Donald Trump called PM Narendra Modi and conveyed his deepest condolences for the loss of innocent lives due to the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. President Trump strongly condemned the terror attack and vowed to provide his complete cooperation to India to apprehend the perpetrators of this dastardly attack. India and the United States are one in their fight against terror," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) posted on X.

While Trump had offered to broker a peace between India and Pakistan in his last term, he suggested that he would not do it again when asked by reporters at a news conference aboard Air Force One as he headed to Rome to attend the funeral of Pope Francis.

As inquired if he was worried regarding the issue and whether he intends to call Pakistan and India heads, Trump retorted, "There have been tensions on that border for 1500 years," using hyperbole to define the old rivalry.

"But they'll figure it out somehow. I'm sure that I know both leaders," he continued.

Even as Trump verbally declined to take up the role of a mediator, his government and he soon condemned the Pahalgam attack strongly and reaffirmed rock-solid support to India.
