Sandeshkhali, located in North 24 Parganas district, has witnessed unrest for weeks due to protests against TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan and his associates, accused of land encroachment and assaulting local women.

While addressing a booth-conference of BJP workers in South 24 Parganas district on Monday, Thakur stated, “I can give a guarantee of the implementation of CAA nationally. It will be implemented in all the Indian states, including West Bengal, within a week. You will all see that yourself. I am giving this guarantee from this dais.”

Ramesh underlined Mamata Banerjee's significance as a crucial pillar of the INDIA alliance, asserting that the grouping is inconceivable without her and the TMC. Regarding the TMC chief's decision to go solo in West Bengal, Ramesh expressed the Congress's eagerness to overcome the seat-sharing standoff.

O'Brien asserted that Chowdhury played a pivotal role in the breakdown of the alliance in West Bengal.

The Yatra will traverse various districts in West Bengal, including Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Uttar Dinajpur, Darjeeling, and Malda.

Having been expelled from the Lok Sabha on December 8 of the previous year, the Trinamool Congress leader had previously been instructed to vacate the premises by January 7 following the cancellation of her allotment.

The first reason cited is the perceived absurdity of the Congress' demand for eight to ten seats in West Bengal. The state Cabinet member argued that such a demand is unreasonable given the Congress' diminished vote share of only three percent in the 2021 state Assembly polls.
