While listing the matter for March 2, Justice Mukta Gupta also asked Moitra to submit a copy of her defamation case. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, who appeared on behalf of Moitra, argued that the channel reporter harassed her in the Parliament premises, repeatedly called her a thief, and shoved a mike in her face. The words "chor (thief)" uttered by his client was nothing but a reaction in the heat of the moment and it cannot be termed as defamatory, he argued.
West Bengal mulls replacing Governor with CM as varsities' Chancellor

Interacting with the media in a programme, state Education Minister Bratya Basu said: "The Governor does not extend any cooperation and unnecessarily holds back files, thus my department is constrained to consider replacing the Governor with the Chief Minister as the Chancellor of different universities."

Speaking to the media persons at the airport before leaving for Assam on a two-day tour, the Chief Minister said: "All the winning candidates will be present at Maharashtra Bhawan on December 23. On that day, the KMC mayor and the board will be formed." Though the party is yet to finalise any name, there are strong indications that the Chief Minister wants to rest on Firhad Hakim again.

The data available with the West Bengal election commission shows that the ruling Trinamool Congress has a vote share of 72.1 per cent while the opposition but the Left Front could not reach the double figures even. While BJP struggled with 9.2 per cent, Congress was reduced to politically insignificant managing only 4.1 per cent of the vote share.

The expose showed that several prominent personalities in India had floated companies in tax havens. A team of six officals, including a lady official, recorded her statement. A source said that Aishwarya was asked as many as 50 questions regarding a firm reportedly incorporated by her father-in-law and Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan. The firm was incorporated in British Virgin Island. She was first the director of the firm and then became a shareholder.
Trinamool's claims to conduct violence-free polls fall flat
