In a post on X, Moitra, the MP from West Bengal's Krishnanagar said: "Shaking in my skin to know BJP planning criminal cases against me. Welcome them - only know that CBI and ED need to file FIR against Adani for Rs 13,000 crore coal scam before they question how many pairs of shoes I have."

Moitra had been summoned for the second time to appear before the Ethics Committee to address the charges against her.

Moitra raised concerns about the committee's decision not to shift the hearing dates and noted the committee's different approach in the case of BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri, who has a pending complaint of hate speech.

Moitra had moved the high court against Dubey, Dehadrai, 15 media organisations and three social media intermediaries following what she alleged were false and defamatory accusations against her.

Hiranandani reiterated during the interview that “Ms Moitra felt attacking Mr Adani would target the Prime Minister because there was perceived proximity as both are from the same state". Asked if Moitra had frequent interactions with international journalists from The Financial Times, The New York times, the BBC, and several Indian publications, Hiranandani said the MP had personally given him all the details.

On one hand the party leader in the Rajya Sabha Derek O'Brien clearly said that the party will make its position clear in the matter only after the Ethics Committee of the Parliament comes out with its decision in the matter.

On Saturday morning, Dubey wrote on X, without naming Moitra, claiming that the Parliamentary IDs of an MP were opened from Dubai, when the MP concerned was in India.

In a letter to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, he said, "I anticipate a very serious threat to my safety on account of my complaint dated October 14, which I have submitted to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and to Nishikant Dubey, MP, against Moitra, M.P., and others."

The party's state spokesman took the occasion of Maha Saptami, the first day of the four-day Durga Puja festival, to share the post on 'X' (formerly Twitter). "In 2024, @MamataOfficial will not just inaugurate Durga Puja in West Bengal. She will have to visit several states of the country to inaugurate Durga Pujas organized by the non-resident Bengalis," Ghosh posted this morning.

In a post on X, Moitra said: "I welcome answering questions to (the) CBI and Ethics Committee (which has absolute majority of BJP members) if and when they call me.”
