In his letter, Adhikari has expressed his concerns over the safety of the Assembly members and added that this is the second such case of threat coming from ruling party members. He said that because there was no personal security inside the Assembly, they are open to attacks.

He reminded the Speaker of his responsibility to ensure the safety of all members within the precincts, and that anything that happened, unfortunately, in the Assembly lay within his jurisdiction.

In a subsequent post on X, Adhikari said, "The lawlessness that is spread throughout West Bengal today, entered the Legislative Assembly. A little while back, when I was talking to the presspersons in the lower lobby, at around noon, the TMC MLA Tapan Chatterjee entered and started aggressively approaching towards me.

"Without any provocation or scuffle, Chatterjee used abusive language for me and his body language showed his intention to attack me physically.

"I have already informed the Hon'ble Speaker of this security breach inside the Assembly. This incident has proved the necessity of revisiting the earlier directive that kept Central Security Forces out of the Assembly."

Adhikari has demanded that the Speaker initiate criminal proceedings against Tapan Chatterjee.
