The four Congress MPs -- Manickam Tagore, Ramya Haridas, Jothimani and T.N. Prathapan -- have been suspended for the entire Monsoon Session ending August 12 for holding protests with placards inside the House. Speaker Om Birla had earlier warned them to behave and not to hold the placards inside the house if they wanted to protest.

Following incidents of violence in Prayagraj, Hathras, Firozabad etc after Friday prayers in Uttar Pradesh and the subsequent police crackdown, RLD chief Jayant Choudhary on Sunday attacked the state government over the issue. Jayant Choudhary said, "The use of bulldozer is not the enforcement of the rule of law. Rather it has become a symbol of state sponsored hooliganism!"
