Despite a good start by CSK's Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored a well-compiled 62, the team struggled against PBKS's disciplined bowling attack on a pitch offering turn and bounce. The middle overs saw CSK's innings unravel under Brar and Chahar's pressure, which saw Gaikwad among the casualties.

For PBKS, the innings saw a good start by Bairstow and Rossouw as the latter took off with aggressive batting, which capitalized on loose deliveries from CSK's bowlers.
