G. Sudhakaran, a veteran party leader and two-time former state minister, had shifted his loyalties towards Vijayan during the factional feud between Vijayan and the legendary former Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan.

Despite BJP claims of potential gains, the 2019 statistics paint a challenging picture, with the BJP-led NDA securing only a 15.64% vote share, finishing third. In contrast, the UDF won 47.48% of votes and 19 seats, while the LDF secured 36.29% votes and one seat.

Vasavan went on to mention that a late Christian Bishop had characterized Vijayan as a gift from God for Kerala. Despite acknowledging the potential for misinterpretation, Vasavan clarified that he was not directly comparing Vijayan to God but merely echoing the sentiments expressed by the Bishop.

The Governor accused Vijayan of allowing SFI activists to manhandle him and criticized the breakdown of law and order in the state. Political leaders, including the State Congress President and the BJP counterpart, condemned the incident, labeling it a black day and decrying the alleged goondaism.

The focus has been turned on the CM's son-in-law P.A.Mohammed Riyas, who was elevated as the State Minister for Public Works soon after his wedding with Veena Vijayan.

The news report that appeared in Wednesday’s Malayala Manorama said that CMRL, a company that is engaged in mining, had paid Veena Vijayan and her IT firm Exalogica a sum of Rs 1.72 crore during 2017-2020 for IT services rendered.

Soon after he returned from the US, he remained indoors followed by a basic ayurvedic rejuvenation therapy at his official residence. After his foreign trip, he has drastically cut down on his public functions, but regularly visits the state party headquarters and chairs the weekly cabinet meetings.

All eyes were on Vijayan, whether he would brief the media or not, soon after his arrival from foreign trips, but that has not happened as all his programmess have been cancelled till June 27. However, the Chief Minister held the weekly cabinet meeting on Wednesday via video conference.
