Kerala Governor's Disapproval of CM Vijayan's SC Move against President

Governor Khan expressed, "While it is within the rights of any aggrieved party to seek redressal from the courts, the actions taken by the state government are far from ordinary. Now, it is for the court to deliberate on the matter."

Just two days following the Kerala government's recourse to the Supreme Court regarding the delay in bill clearance by the President, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan voiced criticism on Monday, denouncing the government's decision to approach the apex court.

Governor Khan expressed, "While it is within the rights of any aggrieved party to seek redressal from the courts, the actions taken by the state government are far from ordinary. Now, it is for the court to deliberate on the matter."

Tensions between Kerala Governor and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan have been evident due to various administrative conflicts within the state.

On Saturday, a petition was filed by CPI-M legislator and former state Minister T. P. Ramakrishnan, along with the Chief Secretary of Kerala, highlighting that seven bills passed by the Assembly were initially forwarded to Governor Khan and subsequently to the President for approval.

Out of the seven bills, one received approval from the President, while three were returned, leaving the fate of the remaining three bills pending with the President. Subsequently, the Kerala government sought intervention from the apex court.

In the meantime, the opposition led by the Congress has labeled the move by the Vijayan government as a mere electoral maneuver.
