The CBI has summoned RJD chief and former Union Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi and 14 others under land for job scam in Patna and Rabri Devi had given the CBI time for questioning on Monday. A 12-member team in three SUVs reached Rabri Devi's residence at 10 a.m. on Monday and stayed for 4 hours, coming out at 2 p.m.

The central probe agency has got the prosecution sanction against against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad in the matter In January, the agency furnished the prosecution sanction letter before the concerned court. The CBI had in October last year charge sheeted 16 accused, including Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi and their daughter Hema Yadav.

The CBI had filed a charge sheet in the case on October 10, 2022, against 16 persons including the former Bihar Chief Minister's wife and daughter and sanction was then obtained to prosecute them. Special Judge Geetanjali Goel of Rouse Avenue Courts observed that, prima facie, the on-record report shows that offences have been committed under diffrent sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

An official said the CBI furnished the prosecution sanction letter before the concerned court. The CBI had in October last year in its chargesheet named 16 accused including Lalu Prasad, his wife, daughter, then GM of Central Railways, then Chief Personnel Officer (CPO), private persons, and some candidates in the matter.

The project is primarily related to environment, forest and climate change, apart from agriculture, irrigation, water resources, and other departments but none of the ministers including Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Minister Tej Pratap Yadav was present. Even Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, who returned from Delhi after celebrating the new year, did not go there.

"You would see what is happening here. Lalu ji and I joined hands together and formed the government in Bihar. Hence, the CBI reopened a case against him. You better know who is behind it," Nitish Kumar said during an event organised here to pay respect to former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on his birth anniversary.

Tejashwi Yadav informed the Prime Minister about the health status of Lalu Prasad and sister Rohini Acharya, who donated a kidney to her father. Modi also wished for the speedy recovery of Lalu Prasad and his daughter Rohini Acharya. Besides Modi, Bihar Chief Minister NItish Kumar also interacted with Tejashwi Yadav and took update of the health status of the father-daughter duo.

Rohini Acharya, the second eldest daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav who donated one of her kidneys to her father, lives with her family in Singapore. The operation for the kidney transplant was successfully completed in Mount Elizabeth hospital in Singapore on Monday and both the donor and the recipient are healthy.
