In the midst of the political uproar in Karnataka surrounding the purported sex video scandal involving JD-S leader Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, reports indicate that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) overseeing the case has dispatched a notice to the accused, requesting his presence for questioning within a 24-hour window.
Notably, a similar notice has been extended to JD-S MLA H.D. Revanna, the father of Prajwal Revanna, who stands as the second accused in the matter.
This development unfolds subsequent to the suspension of Prajwal Revanna, the incumbent JD-S MP and Lok Sabha hopeful from Hassan, by the JD-S leadership on Tuesday morning. After the formation of an SIT by the Karnataka Congress government to probe into the allegations of sexual misconduct lodged against him, the suspension came.
The summons, sent to both Prajwal Revanna and his father H.D. Revanna, required them to appear before SP Seema Latkar within the deadline.
The noose around his neck has further tightened with the intervention of the National Commission for Women (NCW), which ordered an inquiry into the case on Tuesday. NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma wrote to Karnataka DGP Alok Mohan asking for a comprehensive report within three days and demanding fast-track action to arrest the accused, who the police claim has fled the country.
The family of Prajwal Revanna, on the other hand, claims to be cooperating with the probe and said they are ready for his appearance before the investigating officer whenever he is summoned.
