Jammu and Kashmir: 2 terrorists killed in encounter with security forces in Anantnag

The gunfight took place after security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation on the basis of a specific information about militant presence. As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where terrorists were hiding they came under a heavy volume of fire that triggered the encounter.
20-member delegation of foreign diplomats begins 2-day visit to J&K

This is the fourth such visit by diplomats of foreign countries to J&K after August 5, 2019 when article 370 was abrogated and the state was divided into two Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh. After August 5, 2019, the delegation of foreign diplomats visited J&K in October 2019, January 2020 and February 2020.

An officer says, as more proactive outreach programmes have been taken up and more surveillance mechanisms placed, the incidents of youth going missing are "decreasing proportionately". He says it is a well-known fact that any youth visiting Pakistan would be approached by Inter-Services Intelligence members.
CRPF trooper injured in militant firing in Srinagar outskirts

Police sources said militants fired at CRPF troopers in Nowgam outskirts area of Srinagar city today afternoon. "One CRPF jawan sustained an injury in his leg in this attack. He has been shifted to hospital and the area has been cordoned off for searches," sources said.
Top terrorist arrested in Jammu

He has been identified as Hidayatullah Malik, the chief of LeM which is a front organisation of proscribed terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). "Malik, a categorised terrorist from Shopian district has been arrested in a joint operation by the Jammu and the Anantnag police," police said.
4G mobile Internet service being restored in entire J&K

4G mobile Internet services being restored in entire JK, government spokesman Rohit Kansal said in a tweet. At present, 4G mobile services are available in only two districts of JK Udhampur in the Jammu division and Ganderbal in the Kashmir division. All other 18 districts of the union territory have only 2G mobile Internet services.

Slight intensity earthquake jolts Jammu and Kashmir

An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale occurred at 7.59 p.m. The coordinates of the earthquake are latitude 34.33 north and longitude 78.30 east. The depth of the earthquake was 10 kilometres and its epicentre was in Ladakh region.
Minimum temperatures improve across Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh

Extreme cold lashed the valley on Sunday and the minimum temperature was minus 8.8 in Srinagar, the lowest in last 30 years and the maximum was only 0.6. Locals have been complaining that all drinking water pipes, even those brands otherwise claiming to withstand minus 25 degrees and less, have burst.
J&K police arrests LeT terror associate

He has been identified as Junaid Altaf, resident of Konibal, Pampore. Police said as per records he was involved in providing shelter, logistics and other support to active terrorists in Pampore and Khrew areas of Awantipora. Police said he was also in touch with Pakistani terror commanders through various social media platforms.
