Police said initial investigation reveals that two terror operatives Umar Ahmed Malik and Suhail Ahmed Malik, both residents of Semthan, Bijbehara in south Kashmir's Anantnag district working under a plot hatched by Kashmir-based terrorists and their Pakistan-based JeM handler Aqib alias Alfa from Budgam, clandestinely travelled from Kashmir to the international border at Vijaypur, Samba and received arms and ammunition dropped with the help of drones.
After 25 years, Srinagar records minus 8.4 degrees at night
Weather officials said the minimum temperature in the city was recorded at minus 8.3 degrees way back in 1995. The 40-day harsh winter period, known locally the 'Chillai Kalan', will end on January 31. Meanwhile, Pahalgam recorded a minimum of minus 11.1 degrees and Gulmarg minus 7.0 degrees on Thursday.

Mutant Covid-19: 2 infected people found in Kashmir
The discovery of two locals carrying the new UK COVID-19 strain is disturbing since there has been a decline in the number of daily COVID positive cases in Kashmir. Dr Bilquees Shah, nodal officer for COVID-19 at Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial (JLNM) hospital in Rainawari area of Srinagar, told reporters that two male patients from Kashmir have tested positive for the new COVID-19 strain that was first reported in the United Kingdom.
Bird Flu Outbreak: Jammu and Kashmir government bans entry of poultry
Authorities have already said that so far there was no reported incident of bird death due to bird flu in the union territory. Meanwhile, there are reports of scores of crows dying in Rajouri district. The authorities said they have collected samples to ascertain whether these deaths are related to bird flu or not.

The RTI shows that on March 28, 2018, Mehbooba spent Rs 28 lakh in a single-day for buying carpets.
Heavy snowfall forces rationing of essentials in Kashmir
The Srinagar-Jammu Highway remained closed for the third consecutive day. The nearly 300-km long highway is the lifeline of supplies for the landlocked valley. Each time, the highway gets blocked, hoarders and profiteers resort to black marketing. Authorities on Tuesday announced rationing of petroleum products and cooking gas.
