Acting promptly on the FIR filed by former DCW chief Swati Maliwal regarding an assault at the 'Sheeshmahal', the Delhi Police arrested Arvind Kejriwal’s personal secretary, Bibhav Kumar, on Saturday at the Chief Minister’s residence.
Maliwal accused Kumar of abusing and physically assaulting her in the drawing room of the CM’s residence. According to her FIR, while she was waiting to meet the Chief Minister on May 13, Kumar forcibly entered the room and attacked her.
Bibhav Kumar, a long-time associate of Arvind Kejriwal, has been detained and will be questioned about the alleged abuse and misconduct.
In response, Kumar has also filed a complaint at the Civil Lines police station, expressing his willingness to cooperate with the investigation.
The incident has intensified the troubles for the already embattled AAP leadership. The case took a new turn with the emergence of CCTV footage.
The Delhi Police is planning to playback the CCTV recordings from the CM's residence. They had on Friday re-enacted the crime scene post the FIR lodged by Maliwal .
Meanwhile, the BJP has come out all guns blazing against Arvind Kejriwal and has criticized the AAP leadership for the alleged assault on the woman MP at the CM's residence, even likened it to 'cheerharan' from the Mahabharat.
The BJP further alleged that AAP was shielding Kejriwal's private secretary despite having substantial 'evidence' against him.
