The farmers, who clashed with Haryana Police at border points on Tuesday, encountered tear gas and water cannons while attempting to break barricades obstructing their march to the national capital. After a prolonged face-off with the police, farmer leaders decided to suspend the protest for the day, with plans to resume the march from Shambhu on Wednesday.

North India, comprising seven meteorological sub-divisions, is anticipated to receive above-normal rainfall, exceeding 122 percent of the long period average, in February. The IMD predicts that the overall monthly rainfall for the country in February is likely to be above normal, surpassing 119 percent of the long period average.

The AQI is a measure of harmful particulate matter PM2.5 concentration, known to cause cardiovascular and respiratory issues.

IMD officials stated that the city can expect a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of very light rains towards the evening or night.

As of 4 pm on Monday, the 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was recorded at 356. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), the AQI is expected to enter the 'severe' category (AQI above 400) on Tuesday.

In terms of visibility, readings recorded at 5:30 am showed varying levels across different areas: Palam and Safdarjung in Delhi had readings of 200 and 500, respectively.
