KCR's national party to start expanding from Maharashtra

K. Chandrasekhar Rao said the party would pick up Maharashtra as the first field of activity by launching the farmers' wing of the party from there. Rao stated this during his speech at the general body meeting of the TRS, which unanimously passed a resolution to change the party's name to the BRS.

Sources in the party said that the chief minister and TRS supremo K. Chandrasekhar Rao will announce his much anticipated national party at 1.19 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, coinciding with the auspicious Vijaya Dasami festival. The chief minister has opted to rename the TRS to enable smooth transition into a national party.

Rajasekhar Reddy had lost his life in a helicopter accident in December 2009, a few months after leading the Congress to its second consecutive victory in the Assembly polls. Addressing media in Mahbubnagar, Sharmila said:" Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy's death is the result of a conspiracy and attempts are being made to kill me too. But KCR, Telangana Chief Minister, should remember that I'm YSR's daughter and fearless."

With Telangana government celebrating September 17 as Telangana National Unity Day, the Chief Minister skipped the event organised by Government of India, where Union Home Minister Amit Shah hoisted the national flag and reviewed a colourful parade by the Central paramilitary forces. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Karnataka's Transport Minister B. Sriramulu attended the event which saw performances by 1,200 artists from the three states.
