Referring to the previous Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, he said, "CBI and ED used to be 'caged parrots' during the times of Congress. Today, they put a question mark over ED probing the fraud of NewsClick. Congress, China and Newsclick a part of umbilical cord."

Referring to the previous Congress government in Manipur as well as the Centre, the Minister Anurag Thakur said: "During Congress rule, for several months Manipur remained closed. During that time neither the Prime Minister nor Home Minister gave any statement."

The Union minister's comments come at a time when the monsoon session of the West Bengal assembly is on and the ruling Trinamool Congress is moving a special motion to discuss and condemn the situation in violence-ridden Manipur.

Speaking at an economic conclave here, Thakur said that the case was registered and a committee was formed to investigate the matter. The minister added that the WFI is not involved in any of its routine business as the day-to-day affairs are being looked after by a committee of administrators formed by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

"During his foreign visits, Rahul Gandhi insults India. PM Modi met almost 24 PMs and Presidents of the world & held over 50 meetings during his foreign visit recently and when the Australian PM said that 'PM Modi is the Boss', Rahul Gandhi could not digest this," Thakur said.

But New India headed by @narendramodi Ji will not tolerate.
