Earlier today during the afternoon, the BCCI had made the announcement of suspending the current IPL 2025 for a week, which came into immediate effect, following the rising tensions between Pakistan and India.

Shukla described, "Due to the existing scenario, IPL 2025 has been put on hold for a week. The new itinerary will be unveiled following talks with the government, stakeholders, and broadcasters. We are proud of our Indian Army, and BCCI stands wholeheartedly behind our Armed Forces and the government."

This was a follow-up to the sudden postponement of an eagerly awaited match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala, where the match was postponed during the course of the first innings. Fans were told about the postponement and were instructed to exit the field, while both sides were ordered back to their hotels.

Sanjay Sharma, who is a member of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA), informed ANI, "Because of the increased tensions between India and Pakistan, yesterday's Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match was abandoned midway due to security concerns. The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, Punjab Kings franchise, and operational staff were in regular communication with the administration. The local administration was completely aware of the situation."
