8 automakers to recall over 1 lakh vehicles over faulty parts

The eight firms -- including Ford Sales and Service Korea, Volkswagen Group Korea, Jaguar Land Rover Korea, BMW Korea, Dasan Heavy Industries Co and Motostar Korea -- are recalling a total of 102,169 units of 52 different models, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said in a statement.
Chinese automaker launches Tesla-inspired electric car at just $26,000

With a starting price of $26,000, the newly launched Shenlan SL03 is a small electric sedan, reports auto-tech website Electrek. The front end of the vehicle, where the bonnet meets the fascia, and its dimensions look very similar to the Tesla Model 3, which is priced at nearly $40,000.

After hatchbacks, Maruti Suzuki to hatch more SUVs

The Maruti Suzuki's first midsize SUV 'hatchling' will be a hybrid vehicle in two variants - mild and strong hybrid. The car will be produced at the Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd's plant in Karnataka's Bidadi, the carmaker's Senior Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Shashank Srivastava, said. The SUV will be unveiled during the third week of July and mass production will begin from August, he said.
Ferrari says 60% of its lineup will be electrified by 2026

The carmaker said that by 2026 Ferrari targets a well-diversified product portfolio, composed of 60 per cent hybrid and fully electric and 40 per cent ICE in terms of the number of models. "Our brand fuels the dreams of millions. It has been built up over 75 years of thrilling, memorable experiences, through success on the track and sheer driving pleasure on the road," John Elkann, Ferrari Chairman, said in a statement.
Nearly 70% of car crashes linked to 'self-driving' in US were Tesla: Report

According to Engadget, the US NHTSA released data on 10 months of crashes between July 1, 2021 to May 15, 2022, involving cars with automated components. The report mentioned that out of 392 crashes, 273 were Tesla vehicles using Autopilot or the Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta. Honda cars were tied to 90 incidents, while Subaru models were involved in 10. Other makes, including Ford, GM, VW and Toyota, had five incidents or less.
Ford recalls about 49K Mustang EVs over battery safety issues

The battery safety defect may render the vehicle immobile. The malfunction involves a potential overheating of the vehicle's battery high-voltage contactors, which can lead the vehicle to fail to start or lose power while in motion, reports CNBC. "An overheated contactor that opens while driving can result in a loss of motive power, which can increase the risk of an accident," according to the Ford notice.
Imported long-range Tesla Model Y spotted in India

Model Y is a crossover version of Model 3 and is slightly more expensive than that of Model 3, which is the entry-level Tesla vehicle and was supposed to enter India last year.The dual motor long-range Model Y starts at a base price of $62,990 and can reach $83,990 with all the available features.
Tesla to soon have self-driving cars without need for human drivers: Musk

He made the announcement in Brazil, where he was for a partnership with the local government to launch a program to connect Amazonian regions with SpaceX's Starlink satellite-based internet. As per the report, Musk has been claiming that Tesla will have 1 million robotaxis on the road by the end of the year since 2020.
