Ola Electric Reports 17% Decline in E-Scooter Sales for September as Stock Falls Below Rs 100

According to data made public by the government for VAHAN, Ola Electric sold 22,950 e-scooters in September (till about 5 p.m. on September 30), and its vehicle registration graph has been consistently falling since the month of March when it sold 53,638 electric two-wheelers.

Addressing an event organised by the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), the Minister also urged automobile companies to contribute to road safety initiatives, with emphasis that road safety remains a big priority for the ministry. "Ten years ago, when I was pushing for electric vehicles, automobile giants in India didn't take me seriously. Now, they tell me they may have missed the bus," Gadkari told the gathering.

These retail sales of the company are the lowest in the calendar year to date, down 34 per cent from 41,711 units it sold in July. In all, 88,451 electric two-wheelers were registered in August 2024, against 62,767 units in the year-ago period — a growth of 41% year-on-year, VAHAN data showed. But sequentially, the industry has shrunk 41.5 per cent.
