Delhi reports 343 new Covid cases, no death for third day running

PFI role in Kanpur violence now 'visible', says police

The PFI had called for a bandh in Manipur and West Bengal on the same day. A connection is being investigated. Kanpur Police Commissioner, V.S. Meena, said in a statement on Sunday, "Documents related to the Popular Front of India (PFI) have been found during the searches. Documents related to the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and Campus Front of India (CFI) were also found during searches at the premises of Zafar Hayat Hashmi, the main accused in the case."
Gunpowder found at Hapur blast site

Twelve people were killed and 20 injured when the boiler exploded on Saturday. Police officials have said that some long plastic cartridges have been recovered from the premises of the factory. Preliminary probes suggest that some cartridges that are used in toy guns were also manufactured in the factory. Sources said that the explosion was so strong that its sound was heard 10 km away and some of the factories located in the vicinity were damaged.

Bishnoi is in the custody of the Cell, which is expiring Sunday and the police might seek an extension of the remand. The Special Cell had recently taken gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, an aide of Brar, into custody to interrogate him in the Moosewala's killing case. The sources said that Bishnoi too has taken Brar's name as the brain behind the murder of Moosewala. Bishnoi told interrogators that Moosewala was involved in conspiracy against their gang and hence they wanted to kill him.

A police source said, "A hate-monger, identified as Mohammad Irfan Bhat of Takiya Wagoora Kreeri, Baramulla, has been booked under the PSA by the Budgam police for recording and uploading a video spreading hate and justifying the killing of artist Amreen Bhat who was shot dead by terrorists in Hashroo Chadoora (Budgam) on May 25."

Addressing a press briefing at its headquarters here, JIH Vice-President Prof Mohammed Salim Engineer voiced concern over the recent developments related to the targeting of Muslim places of worship in the country. He said that the courts should not have entertained petitions pertaining to demands for survey of Gyanvapi and other mosques when the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991 prohibits altering the character of religious places.

Moosewala's parents meet Shah, seek CBI probe into son's murder

Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Union Minister Gajendra Shekhawat, who had gone to the residence of Moosewala to express condolences to his parents, and Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher were present at the meeting that lasted for 15 to 20 minutes. The meeting was held at the Chandigarh airport. A day earlier, Moosewala's father, Balkaur Singh, wrote to Shah, demanding a probe into his son's killing by a central agency.
World Environment Day: PM to participate in 'Save Soil Movement', launch 'LiFE'

In the first half, Modi will address the gathering at the 'Save Soil Movement' programme at Vigyan Bhawan in the national capital. 'Save Soil Movement' is a global movement to increase awareness about deteriorating soil health and bring about a conscious response to improve it. Railways to invest over Rs 95,261cr to link NE state capitals

Assam's main city of Guwahati, Tripura capital Agartala, and Arunachal Pradesh's Naharlagun (adjacent to capital city Itanagar) are already connected with the railway network. NFR's Chief Public Relations Officer Sabyasachi De on Friday said with the vision to connect the remaining state capitals and also to increase the line capacity in the region, funds to the tune of Rs 51,787 crore have already been allocated.
