96.8% adults received first dose of Covid vax, 81.3% second, Centre to SC

The Centre on Wednesday informed the Supreme Court that 96.8 percent of India's adult population have been administered with first dose of the Covid vaccine and 81.3 percent have been administered the second dose. Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, representing the Centre, submitted before a bench of Justices L. Nageswara Rao and B.R. Gavai that 177,50,86,335 (177.5 crore) total vaccines have been administered.

ED summons Nawab Malik's son in PMLA case connected to Dawood

In a latest development in the PMLA case involving underworld Don Dawood Ibrahim and unknown Mumbai-based politician, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has now summoned Faraz Malik, son of NCP leader and Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik, who is already in police custody.The ED wants to confront him with his father Nawab Malik and also a few documents and other evidence collected by them. On February 23, the ED arrested Nawab Malik and later got his custodial remand till March 3.
Delhi reports 46% fall in daily Covid cases, no death after two months

Delhi on Monday reported a considerable decline of 46 per cent in daily Covid cases, at 258, while there was no Covid death for the first time after December 31, as per the Health Department bulletin.The fresh Covid infections has pushed the tally to 18,59,892 in the city, while the death toll continues to be 26,122. The infection rate in the city has come down to 0.71 per cent, while the number of active cases stands at 1,845, as per the bulletin.
Delhi govt discontinues discounts on MRP of liquor

The Delhi government's excise department on Monday announced to discontinue the discount policy on MRP of liquor in the capital city. It added that if any such instance of concession or discount is reported, action will be taken against the defaulting licensee. The liquor shops in Delhi were offering hefty discounts on liquor bottles to exhaust their stock by the end of March when licences will be renewed. The intent of the government with refard to offering discounts was to promote consumer choice and healthy competition and determination of price by market forces.
