We will see: SC on plea challenging K'taka HC's verdict on hijab

The Supreme Court on Wednesday declined to grant an urgent hearing on a plea challenging the Karnataka High Court order, which dismissed all petitions seeking direction for permission to wear hijab in classrooms and held that wearing of hijab by Muslim women does not form a part of essential religious practice in Islamic faith.
SKM announces next phase of movement to demand MSP guarantee

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), a coalition of over 40 farmers' unions, on Monday announced the next phase of its nationwide agitation. The SKM will observe April 11- April 17 as MSP Legal Guarantee Week. The SKM also planned a nationwide protest on March 21 regarding the role of the government in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, wherein four farmers among others, were mowed down by a vehicle allegedly belonging to MoS Home Ajay Misra Teni.

Railways' longest tunnel constructed in Kashmir

The last few years witnessed slow progress in the project due to the pandemic but with its expert team today tunnel T-49 has surpassed the 11.2-km long Pir Panjal Tunnel on the Banihal-Qazigund section of the Kashmir Railways Project. At a length of 12.758 km, T-49 is the longest tunnel of Indian Railways, running between Sumber and Arpinchala station of Katra-Banihal section of USBRL mega project. The USBRL project is set to be 272 km long, constructed on access roads connecting 147,000 people in 73 villages; out of which 161 km that connects 29 villages, has already been commissioned and is in operation.
PM Modi wishes Obama quick recovery from Covid

In a tweet on Sunday night, Obama said: "I just tested positive for Covid. I've had a scratchy throat for a couple days, but am feeling fine otherwise. Michelle and I are grateful to be vaccinated and boosted, and she has tested negative. "It's a reminder to get vaccinated if you haven't already, even as cases go down." Replying to the tweet, Modi said: My best wishes Barack Obama for your quick recovery from Covid-19, and for your family's good health and wellbeing."
J&K delimitation commission publishes proposals in gazettes

The commission has announced that it will visit the union territory on March 28 and 29 for public sittings. The commission has incorporated two detailed dissenting notes signed by three National Conference Lok Sabha members including Dr Farooq Abdullah, Mohammad Akbar Lone and Hasnain Masoodi. Five Lok Sabha members from J&K are associate members of the commission. In addition to three from the NC, the other two are union minister of state in the PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh and Jugal Kishore of the BJP.
Aligarh college refuses entry to girls with hijab

A prominent college in Aligarh issued a notice 'banning' entry of students in the campus without "prescribed uniforms" and refused entry to Muslim girls who were wearing hijab. The Shree Varshney College, on Saturday, directed students not to cover their faces while attending class. Several students returned home after they were denied entry.

Over 60,000 RSS shakhas running across country at present

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is currently running 60,929 shakhas across the country, marking an increase of 5,277 shakhas since March last year. Till March 2021, about 55,652 RSS shakhas were running across India.
