Justice Vipin Sanghi new acting CJ of Delhi HC

The Central Government has appointed Justice Vipin Sanghi as the acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court with effect from March 13. He will replace Chief Justice D.N. Patel who retires on March 13. Born on October 27, 1961 in Nagpur, Justice Sanghi completed LLB in the year 1986 and got enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi as an Advocate the same year.
Newly-wed TN minister's daughter approaches Karnataka minister seeking protection

Two days after the newly-married daughter of a Tamil Nadu minister approached the Bengaluru Police Commissioner seeking protection from her father, she met Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra on Tuesday and sought police protection for herself and her husband. The couple appealed to Jnanendra seeking protection for their life.
BSF recovers drone close to International Border in Punjab

The Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday said that its troopers have recovered one drone in a wheat field near village Havelian in Punjab's Tarn Taran district. The quadcopter was found in the wheat field, which is 1,000 meters away from the International Border.
ED seize Rs 46.85L from Patliputra builders in Patna

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized Rs 46.85 lakh from the residence of Managing Director of Patliputra builders Ltd, Anil Singh. The action was taken on Tuesday night. Singh is currently in jail after the ED had seized Rs 2.62 crore on October 29, 2021. And as part of the ongoing probe, ED again searched his house.
AQIS trying to enter NE states including Assam through Bangladeshi jihadis: Report

According to sources, quoting the intelligence inputs, the AQIS is trying to establish itself firmly in the northeastern states with the help of a few terror groups in Bangladesh and this needs to be checked by the states' police. The inputs suggested a particular religious group which is actively involved in helping Bangladeshi nationals to sneak into India through the states on the Bangladesh border.
Lokpal Report 2020-21 submitted to President

Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose on Tuesday called on President Ram Nath Kovind and presented him the Annual Report (2020-21) of the Lokpal of India. Ghose was accompanied by Secretary, Lokpal of India, Bharat Lal. As per the procedure, the President sends the report with his comments to the government and subsequently the report is laid before each House of the Parliament.
Indian women better at receiving growth opportunities at workplace: Report

Women in India are increasingly looking for growth opportunities and feel ready to take on more responsibility within the company, according to a global report released on the occasion of International Women's Day on Tuesday. International Women's Day is celebrated annually on March 8. The report, by PC and printer major HP, found that a whopping 90 per cent Indian women took the lead, among other countries, in applying for a promotion compared to 67 per cent men.
TN youth joins Ukrainian army, fights against Russian troops

A 21-year-old from Tamil Nadu, who was rejected twice by the Indian Army, is now fighting in the Ukrainian Army against the invading Russian troops. Intelligence reports received by the Union government have revealed that the Tamil youth, Sainikhesh Ravichandran of Thudaliyur in Coimbatore is a student of Aerospace engineering at Kharkiv National University in Ukraine.
Hijab row: Prohibitory orders around Bengaluru schools, colleges

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant on Monday issued prohibitory orders in and around schools and colleges in the city till March 22. The order says that any gathering, agitation or protest of any type within the 200 metre area of schools, PU colleges, degree colleges or other similar education institutions in Bengaluru city has been extended for another two weeks.
Delhi reports no Covid death for second day running, 249 new cases

Delhi on Sunday reported no Covid related death for the second consecutive day, while there were 249 fresh infections in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Department bulletin. The fresh cases has taken the tally to 18,61,712, while the death toll remains 26,134. The infection rate stands at 0.59 per cent, while the number of covid cases has reduced to 1,261.
