The United Nations has strongly urged Israel to cease unlawful killings of Palestinians, highlighting the rapidly deteriorating human rights situation in the occupied West Bank, as reported by multiple media outlets.

UN Rights Chief Volker Turk expressed deep concern over the use of military tactics and weapons in law enforcement situations, citing the alarming use of unnecessary or disproportionate force. Additionally, Turk highlighted the imposition of broad, arbitrary, and discriminatory movement restrictions that significantly impact Palestinians, describing these actions as extremely troubling in a statement.

The escalation began when Israel initiated a ground offensive in Gaza on October 27, following a surprise attack by Hamas on October 7 that resulted in the deaths of 1200 Israelis and the hostage-taking of over 200 individuals.

Amid the escalating hostilities between Hamas and Israel, a staggering toll has been recorded: at least 21,110 Palestinians, predominantly comprising children and women, have lost their lives, with 53,688 Palestinians sustaining injuries. The UN's urgent call underscores the pressing need for an immediate cessation of actions leading to loss of life and grave human rights violations in the region.
