A health bulletin issued by the hospital says that she is under treatment of Arup Basu, a chest consultant.According to Dr D.S. Rana, Chairman, Trust Society, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, "Smt Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson UPA, has been admitted to Sir Gangaram Hospital under Dr Arup Basu, Sr Consultant Department of Chest Medicine and his team on 2nd Mar 2023 on account of fever.

She was speaking on the second day of the three-day plenary session of the party. This is an extremely challenging time for the Congress as the Modi government has captured and subverted every institution, Gandhi said. She alleged, "The BJP is stoking fear and has viciously targeted minorities, Dalits, tribals, women and the deprived section of society. Terming it a "crucial" time.

Both leaders skipped the steering committee meeting which decided not to hold the Congress Working Committee (CWC) elections and announced to amend the party's constitution to give life-long membership to former presidents and prime ministers in the CWC. Congress will amend 16 articles and 32 rules in the party's constitution and one of them is on appointing.

The proposal, if passed, will enable Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to become the CWC members, and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will also become a member of the party's top decision making body. In the steering committee held on Friday in Raipur, party president Mallikarjun Kharge was empowered to constitute the new CWC.

Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are expected to land in the state capital in the afternoon. Sources said that this is to give a clear signal that Kharge is in full command and they do not want to give the message that decisions in the party are not done under the influence of the Gandhis. Sources indicate that the meeting may decide on whether elections.

She was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday for "observation and treatment of a viral respiratory infection", he had said.
