“We gave 50 per cent reservation to women in Panchayati Raj Institutions in the year 2006. From 2007 we introduced 50 per cent reservation for women in Urban Local Bodies also. Since 2006, women are being given 50 per cent reservation in primary teacher recruitment and from 2016 provision has been made for 35 per cent reservation for women in all government jobs.”

Sources have said that Nitish Kumar will meet the incharge of different wings of the party on September 23 and will chair the meeting of in charges of all assembly constituencies on the next day.

The Chief Minister said this in Patna while reacting to the statement of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Shah had said during his address after inaugurating SSB office in Bihar's Araria on September 16 that "the situation in Bihar is not right and soon BJP will form the government under the leadership of Narendra Modi".

JD(U) national president Lalan Singh and Bihar minister Ashok Chaudhary described Nitish Kumar as eligible to be the Prime Minister. Choudhary said that apart from Bihar, people of many other states want to see Nitish Kumar as PM. He said that if a survey is conducted, then many people would like Nitish Kumar to become the Prime Minister.

However, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan said on Tuesday that there is no space for Nitish Kumar in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

The case was filed by advocate Sunil Singh following 243 deaths in hooch tragedies in dry state Bihar since 2016.

When asked about Nitish Kumar leading the opposition alliance, senior JD-U leader Arun Kumar said that everyone wants their leader to stay at the centre stage, and JD-U is no different.

“It is not necessary that the election (Lok Sabha) will take place at the scheduled time. Some people are capable of doing anything in the country which I have been repeatedly saying for the past seven months,” he said.

"I do not have any personal ambition to achieve post. I just want to unite all opposition parties. We are expecting some more parties to join us in Mumbai. The meeting will also decide who will fight from which place. Every thing will be finalised in Mumbai meeting," Kumar said while inspecting the Lohia Path Chakra in Patna.

Referring to the K.K. Pathak-Professor Chandrashekher row, Singh said that the officers are indulging in arbitrariness in Bihar and nothing is under the control of the chief minister. “Today, Ashok Chaudhary is saying that officers and ministers are two wheels.
