According to Parliament sources, the discussion on the no-confidence motion is expected to begin once it is moved on August 8, and is likely to continue throughout the next two days, that is, August 9 and 10.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to reply to the discussion on the motion on August 10.

Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury tried raising the point of order along with other party members, but Kirit Solanki, who was adjudicating the proceedings, did not allow it.

"Speaker made the decision today. We followed the legal process and immediately after receiving the Supreme Court's order, we restored it," Joshi told media persons outside the Parliament. Responding to questions on Gandhi's Lok Sabha membership being restored, the minister denied any delay.

In an order issued by the Lok Sabha secretariat on Monday, it was informed that in view of the Supreme Court order dated August 4, Gandhi's disqualification, which was ordered on March 24 this year, stands withdrawn. The Supreme Court on August 4 had stayed Gandhi's conviction in a defamation case against him.

According to the list of business for Tuesday (August 8), Gogoi will move the no-confidence motion, which says "That this House expresses its want of confidence in the Council of Ministers".

Amid high drama, the lone AAP MP Sushil Kumar Rinku was suspended from the remaining tenure of the Monsoon Session by Speaker Om Birla after he threw some papers on the chair while standing in the Well of the House. 

Sources said that there is a likelihood that the date for the discussion on the no-confidence motion is likely to be finalised for August 2 during the meeting.

Sources aware of the development said that after a day-long discussion among the opposition parties, it was decided that motion will be brought on Wednesday in the lower house. The Congress has also issued a whip to all its MPs in Lok Sabha to be present in the house from the commencement till its adjournment as “very important issues will be taken up for discussion in Lok Sabha tomorrow, i.e. July 26.”

BJP President J.P. Nadda has appointed former Union Minister D Purandeshwari as the new state President of Andhra Pradesh. Purandeswari, who had joined the BJP in 2014, is daughter of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder N. T. Rama Rao. She replaced Somu Veerraju.

"Ashwini Vaishnaw has worked tirelessly and drawn appreciation," Deve Gowda said at a time when the opposition is demanding Vaishnaw's resignation over the horrific incident. The timing of Deve Gowda's statement is seen as the JD-S developing proximity with the BJP.
