Trinamool Congress leaders pointed to the expulsion of MP Mahua Moitra on national security grounds and urged action against Simha, alleging his involvement in the suspect's entry to the Lok Sabha's visitor's gallery. Delhi Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter, with a total of five individuals apprehended in connection with the incident.

Devaraje Gowda said that he condemned the incident.

Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla have also reached Parliament to assess the situation. The individuals responsible for the breach have been identified as Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan.

Authorities are determining whether the individuals caught inside and outside Parliament are linked. The incident, involving slogans and the use of colored smoke flares, is not believed to be connected to a terror attack. A forensic science laboratory team is examining the smoke flares for further investigation.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi highlighted the release of foul-smelling gas, questioning the security of the new Parliament building. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the 2001 attack victims earlier.

In wake of the high court on Tuesday dismissing his plea in the 2009 case, a Lok Sabha notification issued on Wednesday said that Faizal had ceased to be a member of the house as per Article 102 (1) (I) of the Constitution and Section 8 of the Representation of People Act, 1951 with effect from the announcing of the sentence by a trial court on January 11, 2023.

The proceedings of both the houses -- Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha -- will commence in the new Parliament building on Tuesday.

The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) in its report said that it has analysed the self-sworn affidavits of 763 sitting MPs out of 776 seats of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha across the nation and the data has been extracted from affidavits filed by the MPs prior to contesting their last elections and subsequent bye-elections.
